Vintage 1970s Craft Cord
This brand of synthetic cord was manufactured in the USA between the 1970s and 1980s. It is appropriate for indoor or outdoor use and will last much longer than its cotton alternative when exposed to rain and everyday use. (Think plant hangers and market bags)
What makes a synthetic cord so great?!
This is my go-to material when I knot an urban fiber bomb, or while creating an installation for an area that might be humid or potentially get rained on.
Synthetic cord is thermally fusible! You can heat-to-melt the ends to permanently prevent fraying and create a seamless edge.
This material works really well for macrame, looms, baskets and rugs.
